Student Loan Fund
The Auxiliary Student Loan Fund (SLF) is a loan program available to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students who belong to the Student Chapter of the AVMA. The SLF began shorly after World War I as a program to assist financially the plight of the veterinarian and his family resulting from injury or death in that war. Despite tough economic times, the Auxiliary raised money to assist the profession and its practitioners. Eventually this assistance evolved in the Auxiliary Student Loan Fund. Over $9,000,000 has been loaned to 3, 254 students since the inception of the SLF. The money is raised on the local level by spouses of veterinarians and also benefits from the Market Place of States event at the AMVA annual convention. Envision how many tank trucks of jam, miles of afghan yarn, grosses of t-shirts, and hours of work by dedicated spouses created this!

The Student Loan Fund is administered by the Auxiliary to the AVMA. For more information regarding loans, please call the Auxiliary to the AVMA office (620-365-7579) or e-mail
